Dress Code & Etiquette

At County Cavan Golf Club, we take pride in creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and respectful of tradition. In the interest of ensuring a positive experience for all Members and Visitors, we kindly ask that the following guidelines be observed both on the course and in the clubhouse.

Dress Code

We are a modern and friendly club that values both comfort and presentation. Like many sports, golf is enhanced by a sense of occasion, and appropriate attire helps maintain the quality of your experience.

On the Course & In the Clubhouse

  • Smart casual dress is required at all times.

  • All clothing should be clean, neat, and tidy.

Not Permitted:

  • Singlets or sleeveless shirts

  • Sports shorts (only tailored shorts are allowed)

  • Football kits, tracksuits (tops or bottoms)

  • Denim clothing or round-neck t-shirts

  • Metal spikes (only soft spikes allowed on the course)

Golf Shoes

  • Golf shoes are required on the course.

  • However, they must not be worn inside the clubhouse.



Course Etiquette

We ask all golfers to observe the following practices to maintain the quality and enjoyment of the course:

Spikes

  • Soft spikes are required; metal spikes are not permitted.

  • A spike fitting service is available in the Pro Shop.

Pace of Play

  • Respect your fellow golfers by avoiding slow play.

  • Fourballs should aim to complete their round in under four hours.

  • A course ranger may be present to assist with the pace of play.

Course Care

  • Always replace divots and repair pitch marks on the greens.

  • Enter bunkers from the low side, and rake all holes and footprints before exiting. Rakes are provided.

During Play

  • Be respectful: do not move, talk, or stand close to another golfer who is addressing the ball.

  • Allow the player with the honour to play first.

Mobile Phone Policy

  • Mobile phone use is not permitted in the clubhouse. Please use the foyer for calls and ensure your phone is switched to silent mode at all times.

  • On the course, mobile phone use should be restricted to emergencies or urgent matters only.

Club staff are authorised to address any instances where dress code or phone usage policies are not followed.
